Sue Ryder strives to ensure that end-of-life care is of a high quality and dignified.
In the Czech Republic, more than 60,000 seniors are cared for in homes for the elderly.
Sadly, approximately 40% of them die in hospitals. Why?
Because of the fact that the palliative approach is still not a standard part of residential care.
Sue Ryder introduced this approach in 2015. Since then, the number of deaths of their clients has dropped from 68% to 14%. They are passing the good practice on and helping other homes. They are working to make palliative care the standard in residential facilities.
However, this requires additional funding to be raised each year.
That’s why they launched the fundraising campaign: With dignity until the last minute.
It is necessary to start changing the way we care for the elderly now.
