Last Wednesday, the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic voted on an amendment to the Contract Registry Act. The amendment would abolish the duty of territorial self-governing units, central semi-budgetary organisations, state funds or corporate bodies in which the state or a territorial self-governing unit has a majority interest to publish their contracts in the registry.
The act was proposed by MP Jan Farský and advocated by non-profit organisations associated with the project “Rekonstrukce Státu” (www.rekonstrukcestatu.cz), and it was one of the anti-corruption bills proposed by this project. Rekonstrukce Státu has the support of the British Chamber of Commerce.
