A catastrophic earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale struck southeastern Turkey and Syria in the early hours of Monday, 6 February.
Thousands of people have lost their lives, thousands more are injured, and thousands more are missing under the endless ruins of fallen houses. According to the latest count, the death toll from Monday’s devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria has already reached five figures.
Therefore, The Humanitarian and Development Centre of Diakonie CCE has today launched a public collection to support people affected by the devastating earthquake. They are currently in contact with their local partner in the northeast of Syria, who already distributed supplies of warm clothes and mattresses yesterday. The next priority will be to procure food and temporary shelter.
