NewsAllen & Overy: Leading insolvency law specialist Petr Sprinz joins Allen & Overy

Allen & Overy has announced today that distinguished expert Petr Sprinz has joined its team as counsel. Petr will lead the Czech restructuring and insolvency practice of Allen & Overy. The Prague office of Allen & Overy now has two partners, three counsel and 35 lawyers.

Petr not only specialises in restructuring and insolvency, but also represents clients in judicial and arbitration proceedings and complex cross-border transactions. He is also a registered arbitrator at Czech and foreign arbitration institutions. Chambers client commentators describe Petr as “an experienced and business-oriented insolvency lawyer with a very proactive approach towards the client”, adding, “He is always well prepared for every meeting and able to fight for us with all the necessary legal ammunition.

During his career, Petr has represented international and local financial institutions and other clients in insolvency proceedings, incidental disputes and asset acquisitions, including portfolios of receivables. He is the leader of a team authors providing prodigious commentary on the Insolvency Act. He has also written articles and given lectures on insolvency in the Czech Republic and abroad. As a member of the working groups of the Ministry of Justice, Petr participates in the implementation of the Restructuring and Insolvency Directive and has also prepared a part of Czech insolvency legislation responding to the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic. He has also assisted in the preparation of a number comparative publications for INSOL Europe and the World Bank. Before joining Allen & Overy, Petr was a partner at Havel & Partners.
